What I’ve Been Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been trying to keep track of what I’ve been watching on television. I know all of you like ideas for shows to watch as much as I like ideas for shows to watch. Nothing makes me sadder than when I finish up an amazing series and have to hunt a new series down. So …

What I’m Watching from Jo's Country Junction

In my last installment of What I’m Watching, I told you about the show On HBO Max Love and Death. At the time I hadn’t finished watching it as it was being released weekly. I finished it and liked it. I like true crime. I wish I knew why. I think because it’s like a… Read More »What I’m Watching

What I’ve Been Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I sat down to watch television and was trying to pick something to watch when I realized it’s been a long time since I’ve done a blog post on what I’ve been watching on television. I’ll be honest…I watch a lot of flosstube. For those new, flosstube in a part of Youtube where cross stitchers …

What I’ve been Watching from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been stitching quite a bit so that means I’ve had the television on too.  Sometimes I will sit and listen to an audiobook while I stitch but more of the time, it’s the television that’s on.  It’s going to seem like I’ve watched a lot of television but most of these were only 4-6 episodes.

On Netflix, I watched a show called Anatomy of a Scandal.  This one has six episodes and it just flew by.  I don’t think I stitched much while watching this.  I TOTALLY got drug into the drama ...

What I’m Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I watch so much more television than I did five years ago.  It’s mostly due to cross-stitching.  Television and cross-stitching go really well together.  I stitch and watch so some things escape me but I still catch the storyline and know what happened in the show.

Here are a few things I’ve been watching lately:

First up is The Gulf.  This is set in New Zealand.  I just love shows that are set in other countries as I enjoy the scenery and mannerisms that are different than here in the US.

I watched this on Amazon Prime.  There ...

What I’m Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve had some time while I was recovering from my thyroid cancer treatment to watch some television.  I know many of you, like me, have trouble finding shows to watch.

For the most part, I love period dramas and enjoy cop shows.  If I can get these in a British format, even better.

One of my favorite cop shows ever is Shetland.  There are 6 in the series and in January, I started back at season one and watched all the way through.  Oh my…I just love this show.

What I’ve Been Watching from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been trying to get every bit of stitching time in.  I’ve wanted to finish my Anniversaries of the Heart Cross Stitch project.  I watch television while I stitch so…here is what I was watching while I stitched.

Someone suggested I watch Prey.  I found it on Hulu.

Prey (British TV series) - Wikipedia
I loved this.  It’s a cop whodunit.  I love those.

Here is the trailer.

Here’s the description:
When DS Marcus Farrow is put in the frame for the murder of his wife and child he has no choice but to make an escape and try to clear ...

What I’ve Been Watching from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been working to squeeze in more cross-stitch time recently so that means I’ve been watching a bit more television.  I have quite the variety that I’ve been watching.  Here goes…

I watched LuLa Rich using Amazon Prime.  There are four episodes of this documentary.  I found it very interesting as my niece and daughter Kalissa both sold LuLaRoe for a short period of time.  I owned several pairs of their leggings.

I watch television when I stitch and I thought I’d share what has been keeping my interest lately.

I watched Home Fires and found it to be wonderful.  I watched it on Amazon Prime.

Amazon.com: Home Fires - Series 2 [DVD] : Movies & TVHere’s a little synopsis of the show:
“`Home Fires’ is a drama series inspired by Julie Summers’ nonfiction book `Jambusters’. The story follows a group of women living in a rural Cheshire village during World War II. What I’m Watching/Listening to… from Jo's Country Junction

Do you ever get in a rut?  I sure am.  Being I had a week of vacation in July…then had almost two weeks off in August due to my exposure to Covid, I’ve listened to so many audiobooks.  The series I am watching has come to an end.  I’m just tired of it all.

My audiobooks have gotten to be a little more like background noise and not something I am engaged in…so.  I decided to change things up a bit.  I’ve been listening to podcasts.

I like true crime so much of what I ...

What I’m Watching from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve not been watching a lot of television but I have been watching some for an episode each night.  The show that has most of my attention…

Designated Survivor.

What I’ve Been Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I haven’t had much television or stitching time, but when I did, I hit a couple of awesome shows I have to tell you about.

Are you a PBS fan?  Are you a WWII fan?  If you are, you must watch Atlantic Crossing.

Atlantic Crossing | PBS

The show starts as WWII is erupting.  It focuses on the royal family from Norway.  Here is the synopsis:
A princess steals the heart of the president of the United States in an epic drama based on the World War II relationship of Franklin Roosevelt and Norwegian Crown Princess Martha. Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Sex and ...

What I’m Watching from Jo's Country Junction

I didn’t use to ever watch television but now I do.  It all came about as I started cross-stitching again.  I can say that about 5 of the seven nights a week, I end up watching at least an hour’s worth.

Most of what I watch comes from Netflix lately but I did branch out and get PBS and I’m so glad I did.  One of the reasons is that I really wanted to see the movie Elizabeth is Missing.

Elizabeth Is Missing | PBSThe show is based on a book of the same name by Emma Healey.  I had read ...

What I’m Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been cross-stitching and doing some handwork in the evenings so I’ve gotten in some television time.  I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve enjoyed.

1st up…THE CROWN.

Oh my word, I love this show.  I can’t help but feel sorry for anyone born into a life like that though.  From time to time I look at my own life and remember to be thankful for all I was giving simply because I was born to a farmer in Southern Minnesota.  I know some wish they could be born to a family ...

What I’m Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been watching a lot of television recently.  It’s because I have cross-stitch goals…not necessarily that I’m in love with television.  For the most part, it’s noise in the background as I’m stitching along.

Kalissa recommended that I watch The Last Czar.  It was on Netflix.

The Last Czars (TV Mini-Series 2019– ) - IMDb
I loved the show.  It was a great balance between actors showing what was happening and historians and actual historical clips.  I think this would be a great show to watch with a partner…one who liked the story and one who liked the history aspect.  I know ...

What I’m Watching…. from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been trying hard to cross stitch every night.  I’m really into the piece I am working on right now and really want to keep working on it.  So…in the evenings by 8pm, I am typically in front of the television.  Here are a few of the shows that have kept me busy.

I watched The Nest.  It’s on Acorn.  It was really good.

The Nest

There were five episodes.  I’d like to warn you that the accents are pretty thick and for the first episode were hard to understand.  With closed caption on, it was much ...

What I’m Reading/Watching: Defending Jacob from Jo's Country Junction

Do you ever read a book and it sticks with you?  Back in 2012 I read a book Defending Jacob: A Novel by William Landy.

It was a really good book.  It’s a courtroom drama and I tend to like them…yep, there’s a twist at the end too.

Andy Barber and his wife Laurie are well respected people in their community.  Andy a District Attorney and Laurie a school teacher are blindsided when their son Jacob is charged with killing a school classmate.  As the trial goes on the book outlines the change in relationships with community ...

What I’m Watching…. from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been watching Acorn Television lately.  I really do enjoy my British shows.

The thing with British shows is that they can have anywhere from 3 to 12ish episodes in a series.  Some although they call them a series are more like what us in the states would call a miniseries.

With term “series” used like this it might seems like I watched a crazy amount of television but I really haven’t.  This series, Black Work, was only three episodes.  I found this on Acorn Television.

It was my usual British cop show that I love.  I’ll ...

What I’m Watching: Line of Duty from Jo's Country Junction

Oh my word.  I am obsessed.  I’ve finally found a show that I LOVE and have really gotten into.

First let me say crime/cop shows are my favorite.  I also LOVE British or European shows.  The shows are so much more realistic than American shows.  The people aren’t so outrageously beautiful….just everyday looking people.

People often recommend shows that are too cheesy for me….or they are suppose to be funny and to me just aren’t.

So the show I love now??  Line of Duty.

Line of Duty (TV Series 2012– ) - IMDb
There are currently five seasons and all are great.  The ...
